Australia changes how it taxes investment profits after 28 years

Starting July 2027, Australia is changing the tax break it gives people who sell investments. Instead of the current discount (used since 1999), sellers will adjust their original purchase price for inflation before calculating taxes. A floor ensures the benefit doesn't exceed what the government intends. Sales before the deadline use the old system.
