Thousands flee fighting in Yemen by boat to Djibouti

Thousands fled fighting on Yemen's west coast for Djibouti by boat in the ten days to 21 September 2026, crossing the narrow sea channel between the two places. So many boats leaving at once points to growing danger on Yemen's coast, and more crossings are likely if the fighting continues.
