Alternative for Germany Wins Most Votes in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Alternative for Germany won 38% of the vote in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, becoming the state's largest party ahead of the Social Democrats (SPD). Announced 21 September 2026, the result doubled the party's last share. It came about two weeks after the party won a majority, more than half, in Saxony-Anhalt. Two eastern wins in a row will change how rivals campaign nationally.
