U.S. and China Agree to Keep Talking on Trade and Smart Computers

The U.S. and China agreed Sept. 21, 2026 to begin discussions on AI, or smart computer systems, and continue trade talks, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said after meeting Chinese officials. Bessent called the talks 'very successful,' Bloomberg reported. Like an agreement to keep talking, there are no firm promises yet, not a finished deal.
