US and China Plan Shared Warning System for AI Dangers

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the US and China agreed to create a hotline where experts warn each other about new dangers from AI, or smart computer systems, like a fire alarm. It is not yet clear what sets off an alarm or how claims are checked. Big tech rivalry and debate in Washington over limits could test it.
