Two young politicians leave the Conservatives to join the Liberal Democrats

Cody Butler, 21, and Josh Bancroft, 26, left Britain's Conservative Party to join the Liberal Democrats in September 2026 and appeared at its Brighton meeting. They are starting the One Nation Liberals. Butler left in July after Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch said supporters of net zero, cutting pollution to zero, and Europe's human rights treaty could not run for election.
