20 Women Had Breast Surgery They Did Not Need in Durham

Twenty women had a breast removed by surgery they did not need while being treated for cancer, says public hospital group County Durham and Darlington NHS trust. It reviewed 514 patients from January 2023 to February 2025 and found 315 were harmed, 77 badly. One patient is known to have died.
