South Korea Says It Won't Send Soldiers to Fight in Iran

South Korea's president Lee Jae Myung said Sept. 18, 2026, his country will not send soldiers to the Middle East to fight alongside the U.S. in Iran. "There won't be deployment that would involve or enter war," he said. It may instead guard cargo ships near Hormuz, after Trump faulted its help and cut back joint training with Seoul.
