MPs Say Government Should Temporarily Take Over Thames Water

MPs on the cross-party Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee want ministers and water regulator Ofwat to stop bargaining with Thames Water’s hedge-fund lenders and prepare for the government to run it temporarily. Thames Water owes £20bn and is controlled by about 100 high-risk investors. The MPs say more talks give lenders too much power over customers and investment.
