Former Syrian Prison Boss Jailed 60 Years for Torture

A federal judge in Los Angeles sentenced former Syrian prison boss Samir Ousman Alsheikh, 74, to 60 years for torture at Adra Prison from about 2005 to 2008 under Bashar al-Assad. Found guilty in March of planning torture with others, like teammates planning harm, and lying to enter America in 2020, he was arrested in 2024. Prosecutors wanted 80-plus years.
