U.S. Power Regulator Demands Changes to How AI Data Centers Connect to Grid

Federal regulators ordered power grid operators on June 18 to revise how they charge AI data centers for electricity access. The grids were built on rules for smaller buildings, not massive AI facilities. Long waiting lists for grid connections must now be examined, after 18 months of regulatory pressure to update the system.
