US central bank expected to raise rates this week

Markets expect the Federal Reserve — America's central bank — to raise its key interest rate at its Sept. 15-16 meeting. Bloomberg on Sept. 15 put the odds at 95%, up from 54% on Sept. 3, per Reuters. That pushes up loan costs and the dollar, and hurts gold, which pays no interest like savings. I think little room for tougher action.
