U.S. government borrowing costs for 10 years rose to about 4.94% on Sept. 11, close to 5%, Bloomberg reported, before inflation data. Think of the yield as the interest rate savers demand to lend to Washington. When it rises, home loans and borrowing tend to cost more. The next inflation report could keep that pressure up or ease it.
