Stacey Warnecke, a 30-year-old Melbourne influencer, died in 2025 from severe bleeding after giving birth at home. Her birth attendant, Emily Lal, thought Warnecke was panicking and didn't call an ambulance. In Victoria, people who help with home births don't legally need medical training or know how to spot life-threatening problems. This leaves families vulnerable when hospitals aren't available.
