Seven Die in Fire at Kobane Prison in Northern Syria

At least seven prisoners died and dozens were hurt by burns or smoke in a fire at Kobane prison in northern Syria on Sept. 12, 2026, Syrian state TV reported. The cause is unknown. The jail is run by Kurdish forces under a January deal to share control with the government in Damascus, leaving unclear who answers for the deaths.
