New law would let you switch off social media's sorting

The Albanese government wants social media platforms, search engines and AI chatbots to let anyone over 16 turn off the automatic sorting that decides what you see. Instead, you'd get posts in plain time order. Minister Anika Wells says you can switch back and forth. Companies breaking the rules could face fines up to A$109.2 million.
