Amazon Passed on Sam Altman Movie After Big Investment in His Company; Netflix, A24, Focus Also Declined

Amazon MGM Studios dropped a movie about OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, called "Artificial," in June 2026 after investing $50 billion in OpenAI. Netflix, A24, and Focus Features also passed before Neon picked up global rights. The trailer debuted September 8, with a Christmas Day release planned. No studio has said its OpenAI ties affected the decision.
