Senators fight to save ocean monitoring system

Two senators pushed back June 15 after the National Science Foundation announced plans to shut down a network that continuously monitors the Pacific Ocean. The network watches water chemistry, earthquakes, and tsunami warnings. Once you stop collecting this data, years of missing information can never be filled in. The foundation had promised funding through 2024.
