Two men—a well-known extreme athlete and a grandfather—died near Moab on June 14 after jumping from cliffs. BASE jumping has no government safety rules. Jumpers launch from much lower heights than skydivers, leaving almost no time to fix a failed parachute. When equipment breaks, there's nowhere left to go.
