Former Prime Minister Jenny Shipley leads Waitangi Trust

Dame Jenny Shipley, who was Prime Minister 20 years ago, is now running the Waitangi National Trust. This organisation looks after Waitangi, where the Treaty — the founding agreement between the Crown and Māori — was signed in 1840. She takes over from Tania Simpson. The Trust deals with Crown-Māori relations. No reason for the appointment has been given.
