Myanmar's Military Is Using Banned Landmines Against Its Own People

Since Myanmar's military took over in 2021, it has deployed landmines—weapons that can't tell the difference between soldiers and civilians—across the country. Human Rights Watch confirmed this in November 2024. Over 100,000 homes have burned in the widening conflict. Myanmar never signed the international treaty banning these weapons, leaving few tools to stop the practice.
