
New Law Would Let Americans Sue the Government for Pressuring Social Media to Delete Posts
Senators from both parties introduced the JAWBONE Act on June 11, 2026. It would let people sue the federal government if it secretly pushes Facebook, X, or other platforms to remove their posts. The bill also requires agencies to publicly reveal when they contact platforms about content. A 2024 Supreme Court ruling had blocked similar lawsuits on technical grounds.
