Iranian hackers scanned security devices worldwide this summer

Iranian state-linked hackers systematically scanned thousands of Check Point Security Gateways—devices that control network access—between July and August 2024. The scanning resembles a burglar testing doors and windows before a break-in. Organizations using outdated software or exposing these devices to the internet face heightened risk. Security experts warn that similar scanning likely continues.
