Bird Flu Cases in Australia's Wild Birds Jump Sharply

A dangerous bird flu virus called H5N1 has been found in 231 Australian wild birds by 10 August, up from 52 on 1 August. It has spread across at least four states and reached the Murray-Darling river basin for the first time. This follows Australia's first major wildlife die-off from the virus on 3 August. Stopping the spread is no longer realistic.
