Peters refuses to apologise for remarks to Chinese-born MP after private meeting with PM
Winston Peters has refused to apologise for telling Green MP Lawrence Xu-Nan to "go back to where you've come from" in Parliament on 29 July, despite the prime minister and others calling the comments racist. Luxon raised the matter with Peters privately on Monday but declined to discuss what was said. Peters said the meeting was "private and that's the end of it." National deputy leader Nicola Willis said Peters had fallen short of expected parliamentary standards.
