New Mexico Finds Six Unpermitted Wells Drilled for Border Wall Construction

New Mexico's office of the state engineer identified at least six wells under development along the border for border wall concrete production — none holding the permits state law requires before drilling or pumping. The wells sit atop already-depleted aquifers during severe drought. CBP has ordered contractors to stop drilling new wells. Cattle rancher Russell Johnson said the situation could put people out of business.
