WhatsApp Restoring Accounts Erroneously Blocked by Meta's Automated Systems

WhatsApp confirmed on August 3, 2026 that it is restoring user accounts erroneously blocked and placed "under review" by Meta's automated enforcement systems. Affected users saw a Terms of Service review screen promising results within 24 hours. Meta did not disclose how many of WhatsApp's 3 billion users were affected, which regions were impacted, or what caused the misfire.
