U.S. Treasury Joins Japan in $59 Billion Yen Intervention — First Joint Action in Over a Decade

Japan's Ministry of Finance confirmed a joint yen-buying intervention with the U.S. Treasury on August 1, 2026, costing as much as $58.97 billion. The yen sat near 40-year lows at 159.22 per dollar.
