Victorian Royal Commission to Probe $15 Billion CFMEU Corruption Claims Once Dismissed as "Florid Ramblings"

Geoffrey Watson SC's report "Rotting from the Top" estimated CFMEU-related corruption cost taxpayers at least $15 billion and found Victoria's $100 billion Big Build program enabled systemic corruption, sexual exploitation, and drug trafficking. The Allan government dismissed the report as "unfounded" and "florid ramblings." Allan resigned; successor Ben Carroll committed to a royal commission on 28 July 2026.
