National and Labour both promise household solar loans, but no subsidy scheme yet exists

Both National and Labour have promised long-term, low-interest loans for household rooftop solar ahead of the 2026 election, according to The Spinoff. Labour has also proposed a $3,000 subsidy. No national residential solar subsidy currently exists in Aotearoa — the policies are election proposals, not active programmes, according to Lightforce Solar.
