Bordeaux Wildfire Stabilized but Not Contained as 220,000 Evacuees Wait and Heat Returns
France's interior minister declared the 42,000-hectare Saumos wildfire near Bordeaux "stabilized" but not yet contained on July 28. The fire is "not yet fixed," and no evacuees can return. Nearly 220,000 people were evacuated across 23 communes. Returning hot weather raises fears of renewed escalation after the fire violently reactivated on July 26.
