Protesters mount High Court challenge to Queensland's criminal ban on pro-Palestine slogans
Seven pro-Palestine protesters have filed a High Court challenge to Queensland's ban on the phrases "from the river to the sea" and "globalise the intifada." The lawsuit alleges the law burdens the implied freedom of political communication and discriminates by viewpoint. Over 30 arrests have occurred since the ban took effect in March 2026, carrying up to two years' imprisonment.
