
Healey appointed Chancellor, replacing Reeves he accused of underfunding defence
Prime Minister Andy Burnham appointed John Healey as Chancellor of the Exchequer, replacing Rachel Reeves. Days earlier, Healey resigned as Defence Secretary, writing that the Treasury had been "unwilling" to "commit the resources that the nation needs to defend the country at this time of rising threats". The Treasury was then led by Reeves — the woman Healey now replaces.
