Utah flash flood kills Provo fire captain and four family members

A flash flood at Sunglow campground near Bicknell, Utah, killed five family members on July 17, 2026. Provo Fire Captain Spencer Long, his wife Katrina, and their three sons — Reid, Thayne, and Gage — died when heavy rains sent floodwaters through the canyon wash. Their daughter survived; she was not on the trip. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office confirmed the deaths.
