DHS Claims 250,000 Noncitizens on Voter Rolls; Experts and State Officials Push Back

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin announced on July 17, 2026, that DHS identified 250,000 noncitizens registered to vote across California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada. Election expert David Becker said the administration has not been transparent about its methodology. Pennsylvania's Republican secretary of state, Al Schmidt, responded that noncitizen voting is "extremely rare."
