Russia Detains Anti-War Politician Nadezhdin Over Telegram-Shared YouTube Link
Masked police briefly detained Boris Nadezhdin, a 63-year-old Russian election candidate and Ukraine war opponent, on July 13 in Dolgoprudny, north of Moscow. The charge: displaying "extremist" symbols, stemming from a 2023 YouTube video link shared on his Telegram channel. Nadezhdin was released. His court hearing is scheduled for July 17. He called the Kremlin's actions "panic and chaos."
