In a July 16, 2026 East Room address, President Trump claimed China illicitly acquired voter data on 220 million Americans and interfered in the 2020 election. A 2021 ODNI report concluded with "high confidence" that China "did not deploy interference efforts" to change the election's outcome. The White House released heavily redacted documents to support Trump's claims; CNN found little new information in them.
