China Sends Top Official to Pyongyang to Implement Xi-Kim Strategic Blueprint

On July 16, 2026, Kim Jong Un met China's fourth-highest-ranking official, Wang Huning, in Pyongyang. Both pledged to implement a "far-reaching blueprint" from Xi Jinping's June visit — his first head-of-state trip to North Korea in seven years. Xi had pushed for diplomatic, law enforcement, and military cooperation. Wang affirmed China's "firm support for the cause of Korean socialism led by Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un."
