Orphanage Fire Near Algiers Kills 11, Injures 19

An overnight fire swept through an orphanage on the outskirts of Algiers on July 15–16, 2026, killing 11 people and injuring 19, Algeria's Civil Defense confirmed. AP reported all 11 dead were children; Reuters said most were. Ten of the injured suffered burns. The cause remains unconfirmed, and no investigation has been announced.
