AFN national chief puts Carney government on notice: litigation possible over fast-tracked projects

AFN National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak says "nothing is off the table, courts included" as the Carney government moves to accelerate major project approvals. Her July 14, 2026 address to the AFN's Annual General Assembly in Ottawa followed delegates passing a resolution opposing federal and provincial regulatory streamlining that they say compresses consultation and circumvents First Nations consent.
