Royal Canadian Expedition Creates First 3D Models of Shackleton's Quest and Scott's Terra Nova

A 21-day Royal Canadian Geographical Society expedition using the Alvin submersible has produced detailed 3D digital twins of Quest and Terra Nova, the shipwrecks of rival polar explorers Shackleton and Scott. The team captured thousands of high-resolution images without disturbing the wrecks, stitching them into photorealistic models on-site. Quest, discovered in 2024, lies over 1,000 feet down in the Labrador Sea; Terra Nova sank in 1943. The expedition demonstrates preservation through digital documentation rather than physical retrieval.
