Ten Nations Launch European Missile-Defence Coalition to Reduce U.S. Dependence

Ukraine and nine European countries—Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom—established the Integrated Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition on July 13, 2026. The centrepiece is the Freyja project, a planned interceptor system designed as a lower-cost alternative to U.S. Patriot batteries. The coalition signals European capitals are building sovereign air-defence capacity independent of American supply constraints and production rates.
