Meta's Always-On Glasses Will Record Without Lighting the LED

Meta is developing prototype smart glasses with a "super sensing" mode that continuously records audio and captures photos every few seconds, with the LED indicator intentionally off. Per Meta's July 2025 whitepaper, the company plans to reserve the LED for deliberate photo or video capture, leaving it dark during persistent AI-based ambient sensing to prevent indicator fatigue. Bystanders would have no visible signal the device is recording.
