Met Police Open Criminal Investigation Into Suspected Foreign Donation to Jenrick Campaign

The Metropolitan Police confirmed on 8 July 2026 that it is investigating £37,500 given to Robert Jenrick's 2024 Conservative leadership bid, following an Electoral Commission referral in January. Investigators are tracing the funds to US businessman Gary Klopfenstein via his company Innovyz USA—a chain, if established, that would breach UK electoral law barring foreign donations to domestic politicians. Jenrick, now Reform UK's Treasury spokesperson, denies the allegations.
