DuckDuckGo Blocks YouTube Ads by Default Across Desktop and iOS
DuckDuckGo's browser now strips most YouTube video ads by default on iPhone, Windows, and Mac, leveraging open-source uBlock Origin filter lists with proprietary YouTube compatibility optimizations layered on top. Android support arrives soon. The feature is user-toggleable in settings. The limitation: blocking only works in-browser, not through YouTube's native app, where most mobile viewing occurs. Users report longer buffering and occasional playback hiccups as a tradeoff.
