X released native video editing and recording tools for iOS on July 7, 2026, including multi-language captions and green-screen compositing. The move targets a persistent problem: substantial portions of top-performing video on the platform are reposts, sometimes recycled years after original publication. Video now represents close to half of X's impressions, making content provenance a platform priority. More editor updates are planned.
