Matic's Local AI Architecture Drives $250 Vacuum Price Hike
Matic's robot vacuum will cost $1,495 starting September 9, up $250 from $1,245. The company attributes the increase to tenfold-rising memory and component costs tied to its architectural choice: running mapping and inference locally on the device rather than in the cloud. That design yields privacy and reliability gains but requires substantially more onboard silicon than competitors' cloud-dependent models, exposing Matic to semiconductor cost volatility more acutely.
