Three Children Die When Wisconsin Motorboat Capsizes in Sudden Storm Despite Lifejackets
A recreational motorboat with ten people aboard capsized Friday on Geneva Lake in southeastern Wisconsin during a violent, sudden squall. Rescuers recovered one child and six adults; three children were pronounced dead despite wearing lifejackets. The storm triggered a state of emergency, toppling trees and power lines across the area and hampering emergency response to some 911 calls. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Geneva Lake Law Enforcement are investigating the vessel's seaworthiness and the timeline of the storm's development.
