NSW Labor Backs $12 Billion Train Manufacturing Plan for Hunter Region
NSW Premier Chris Minns announced a $12 billion, 15-year commitment to reestablish train manufacturing in the Hunter region, with potential facilities at Teralba or Broadmeadow. The state-owned, privately operated model projects 780 construction jobs and 550 ongoing manufacturing positions. The announcement aims to reverse decades of industrial contraction in the region ahead of the March 2027 state election, where Labor faces upper house pressure from One Nation.
