Deisseroth, Hegemann and Nagel Win 2026 Nobel Prize in Medicine for Optogenetics

Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel were awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discoveries on light-gated ion channels and optogenetics. The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institute announced the award on 5 October 2026. The laureates will share 12 million Swedish kronor.
